Journey Fellowship for Students Now Accepting Applications
Leadership and Renewal Outfitters is now accepting applications for their 2009 Journey Fellowship for Students. Leadership and Renewal Outfitters is a nonprofit organization based in Indianapolis that creates experiences and opportunities for leaders and their organizations and students and their schools to renew their professional commitments and develop their leadership abilities.
The Journey Fellowship for Students, available to our mentors from IUPUI and Purdue and Butler Universities, is a 9-month career and self-exploration opportunity for students interested in careers working with youth. Through a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Leadership and Renewal Outfitters are able to provide students with a $1,000 paid summer internship at a youth-serving agency. They also support personal-development by providing experiences and resources for students to
- better ground themselves in who they are;
- connect with other students who share similar career interests; and
- be inspired to consider what they can do to positively impact the lives of young people.
The deadline to submit applications is December 4. Interested students must have sophomore standing at their college or university. The first activity, an introductory retreat, will take place January 16-18. Students will spend February to May researching and planning for their internships and May to August completing them.
This would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining further experience with nonprofits that work with youth and wants to build on their College Mentors for Kids leadership experience.
